Introduction Through out my childhood I have heard Kanienkeha being spoken in my town. I am one of the unfortunate ones within my people who have lost all fluent Kanienkeha speakers within my family. The last person closest in my family that spoke my peoples language was my grandfather, and he passed on in the late 80's. Ever since I graduated highschool in the early 90's and went on to University. I have had an interest in either learning my own language, or helping making a conscious effort to do something to help others to learn it. The first conscious effort I made in to help my people was to create my website Kahonwes.com and over the years it has expanded in my spare time. This site's inspiration has come about through the changes over the years in my website. It has been an idea fermenting in the back of my mind for years and finally I went ahead with it. This site is my own conscious effort to help all those Kanienkehaka people whom would like to learn their language but may not be near a fluent speaker. It is my conscious effort to give Kanienkehaka people access to materials that maybe I only have access to. Its also a conscious effort to educate the world about my people, its existance, its history and possibly its future. I dedicate this site to all those people whom have the knowledge, wisdom and courage to use our language in a day and age when its so easy to speak english. I dedicate this site to all the people who carry on not only our language, but our customs and traditions, which have been passed on to us for generations. I also dedicate this site to all the people whom remain faithful to the League of the Haudenosaunee and continue to follow our constitution. It is the people whom remain faithful to the Haudenosaunee and its customs, culture and traditions who will make the difference in bringing our people back from where we are today.
